The Ministry of Communications honored today (23) 55 radio broadcasters, stations, entities and personalities from the sector in a ceremony that celebrated the 100 years of radio in Brazil. The event was promoted in partnership with the Brazil Communication Company (EBC)??
Each of the winners received a bronze medal, made by the Mint and the Ministry of Communications. According to the Minister of Communications, Fábio Faria, radio continues to expand, even with technological advances.
“The radio keeps flying. The initiative to take FM radio applications to cell phones was fundamental for this moment. With more than 250 million telephone sets in the country with FM mode, we are going to have many more people listening to the radio”, said Faria.
According to the minister, the folder has already made more than 1,100 migrations from radios to FM. “We also had the installment of grants. It was a delivery from the entire team we have in the ministry and listening to all entities. I believe we have given more long life to this branch that is so important, ”he said.
Among the award-winning broadcasters are radio stations Band FM (SP), Young pan (SP), CBN (RJ), FM The Day (RJ), green seas (Strength), Itatiaia (MG), Pampa and Guaíba (LOL), Club (DF) and National Radio (EBC)?? Entities such as the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (Abert), the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television (Abratel) and the Rio Grande do Sul Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (Agert) were also honored.
Also honored were communicators Ratinho and Ricardo Boechat, who died in 2019 in a helicopter accident. And the program A Voz do Brasil was decorated, the Minister of Science, Technology, Paulo Alvim, and the family of former president Epitácio Pessoa, who inaugurated radio in Brazil.
Actions
The ceremony also saw the presentation of stamps marking 100 years of radio. Made by Correios, they synthesize the history of radio and make reference to the first transmission that took place in Brazil, with the image of Roquette-Pinto, founder of the country’s first station and considered the father of radio broadcasting in Brazil. In total, 14,000 commemorative blocks were made. In a procedure called obliteration, the seals were marked to prevent further use.
The Broadcasting Secretary, Maximiliano Martinhão, presented data on the programs and actions carried out by the Ministry of Communications. In almost 2 and a half years, more than 36,000 processes were analyzed, resulting in the signature of more than 1,600 terms of adhesion to the Digitaliza Brasil Program.
Martinão also mentioned the migration of more than 1,000 radios from AM to FM and the contemplation of 431 municipalities by the National Grants Plan (RadCom). A total of 94 stations were authorized to retransmit programming in the Legal Amazon – in the states of Amazonas (62), Acre (28) and Rondônia (4).
The secretary also mentioned the preparation of public consultation notices for commercial radio stations, the flexibility and waiver of Voz do Brasi’s airing hours, the installment of expired grants and the ordinance that updates changes in the class of broadcasting services.
Currently, Brazil has 642 television programming generators, with around 24,000 TV retransmitters. There are more than 4,200 FM radio stations with current licenses and more than 1,000 in the AM band. In addition, there are almost 5,000 community radios operating in the country.
