Daniel Barragan presented this Saturday, December 3, its resignation irrevocable as Minister of Defense for “strictly personal” reasons.
In the letter addressed to the President Pedro CastilloBarragán thanked the head of state for having given him the opportunity to serve the country.
“I express my deep gratitude to the head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, to the general commanders of the Air Force, Navy, Army of Peru; and to the military and civilian personnel of the Defense sector, for their support and teamwork to achieve the strategic objectives of the sector,” says the letter published on his official Twitter account.

WHO IS BARRAGÁN COLOMA?
Barragán Coloma took office as Defense Minister on September 23 of this year, replacing Richard Tineo, who now heads the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. He was ratified in this role at the end of November to form part of the Ministerial Cabinet led by Betsy Chavez.
As an officer of the Peruvian Air Force, Barragán Coloma was head of the FAP Military Prison, as well as deputy head of the Office of Plans and Budget of the FAP Personnel Directorate. He served as Staff Officer in the Personnel and Materiel areas of Air Group No. 11 and the FAP Officers School.
He also served as Regional Macro Coordinator of Social Programs in the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion and has been an advisor in the Congress of the Republic of Peru and participated in the transfer process in the Ministry of Defense in 2016.
