Minister Jackson and prelude to 18-O: calls for “full support” for the Carabineros to “prevent crimes”

The Minister of Social Development, Giorgio Jackson, reaffirmed the support provided by the Government of the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, on the eve of the third commemoration of the social outbreak.

In this sense, he pointed out that “for us as a Government, there is certainly an empathy regarding the underlying reasons that motivated people to be able to raise the injustices and inequalities that materialized over time in our country”.

“For this reason, we believe that the best response to be able to honor said uprising, said social outbreak, is through an action that goes to the underlying problems, that not only stays with a diagnosis, but that we take action and how we can transform the structures that generate conditions of inequality,” he added.

Likewise, the Secretary of State declared that “at least that has been the heart of what we have proposed as a Government, and by the way that, just as we want to address the structural and substantive issues, in the short term we have to give all the support to those who also dedicate themselves in terms of their public service to being able to prevent the existence of crimes in our country, or the existence of conditions of violence”.

“So both the structural violence and the one we see on the street level are things that we have to try to avoid,” he concluded.
