An internal investigation into complaints made, through voice messages, about alleged mistreatment and abuse suffered by migrants who are at the Migratory Reception Station, in Los Planes de Gualaca, began the National Migration Service (SNM).

Although there is no formal complaint, according to Migration, they initiated this investigation and requested support from the Ombudsman’s Office, so that it participates in this process and is a guarantor of the human rights of migrants.

The SNM pointed out that the director Samira Gozaine instructed the departments of Internal, International and Legal Affairs to conduct interviews with the personnel who work in the Planes shelter in order to determine what is really happening in this place.

Gozaine assured that the necessary measures will be adopted to guarantee that the protocols are complied with and the rights of migrants are guaranteed.
