This Thursday, August 4, the Representative Table of the PIT-CNT raised for the consideration of its affiliates, the possibility of carrying out a “great general strike of 24 hours for the end of August or the beginning of September”, against a pension reform that increases the age to retire, the working age and pensions decrease for vast sectors of the population, then the project is wrong from its base”, according to the president of the PIT-CNT, Marcelo Abdala.

Just in case

In this sense, Minister Mieres questioned the decision of the trade union center, because he said that the debate is just beginning.

“It is not yet defined what the project is going to be, no project has gone to Parliament. There are the general lines of what a Commission of Experts elaborated during a year. I don’t see why such an extreme measure when the bill is not even defined,” he said.

The Secretary of State considered that if the initiative were in Parliament, if it were approved by a Chamber, it would be different, but it is a draft and there is already talk of a “general strike just in case. Every one knows what he does.”

He questioned the PIT-CNT for its “fast” way in which it questions the reform.

“When very fast statements come out in such a complex matter and with so many articles, mistakes can be made,” Mieres said.
