A note from the Cuban News Agency (acne) reports the arrival in Cuba of 29 irregular migrants from Mexico in compliance with the migration agreements signed by both nations.
The group is made up of 23 men and six women who disembarked at the José Martí International Airport after having traveled legally to third countries and being detained by Mexican authorities in their attempt to enter the United States through the southern border.
The note specifies that after arriving in the national territory, the group received medical attention and that they underwent the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test to detect possible cases of COVID-19. They will then be transferred to places of residence.

So far this year, there have been 22 returns of immigrants from Mexico. Some 1,276 people have returned to the island through this route.
The agency underlines that the figures of returned migrants from Mexico, the Bahamas, Grand Cayman and the United States Coast Guard service amount to 3,273 citizens between maritime and air operations.
The Cuba-Mexico agreement aims to fight against acts of violence related to informal migration, discourage illegalities related to the fact and promote cooperation to prevent and condemn human trafficking and other associated crimes.
