So far, it has not been announced if the program will have a further expansion.

The Mexican authority reiterated that “appointments are free, personal and non-transferable” and specified that “they are assigned according to the order in which they have been requested until exhausted.”

In addition, he warned that “the misuse of the system will result in the cancellation of any suspicious appointment and the blocking of the corresponding user. Users are urged to avoid sharing their personal data with third parties who offer to schedule appointments on their behalf, as such appointments could be canceled without prior notice.

Finally, the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensures that it and the Consulate of Mexico in Havana “will continue working to improve the quality and availability of consular services in Havana.”

To access the procedure, users must register at citascuba.sre.gob.mx.

More than 25,000 Cubans reside in Mexico, according to the 2020 Census. This figure indicates a much larger universe of probable families interested in starting a reunification process than those who have benefited from the appointments granted to date.
