Mexico achieves record formal employment in the first quarter

With this, 21,005,852 Mexican workers were registered with Social Security.

The IMSS reported that 64,566 jobs were registered in March, a figure slightly higher by 0.3% than that registered the previous month.

At the end of the first quarter, the workers’ average contribution base salary was 472.5 pesos.

The Mexican economy is struggling to achieve stronger growth amid a context of high inflation and uncertainty due to the rise in interest rates of the main central banks of the world.

The Ministry of Finance estimates that GDP will grow 3.4% this year, a figure much lower than the 1.8% advance expected by analysts surveyed by the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).

The transport and communications sectors, as well as construction, have been the ones that have created the largest number of formal jobs in the last year, and Tabasco, Quintana Roo and Baja California Sur have benefited the most.

On the contrary, Oaxaca, Michoacán and Veracruz have the worst performance in job creation before the IMSS.
