Mexican comedian Polo Polo dies at 78

The Mexican comedian Polo Polo, who broke stereotypes for his marked sketches in which he used double meanings, died this Monday at the age of 78 of natural causes, his daughter Ana Paula reported.

Through social networks, his family wrote a heartfelt message to say goodbye to the also actor: PoloPolo died today. One of the greatest comedians in #Mexico and Latin America.

“His name was Leopoldo Roberto García Pelaez, who was born in León in 1944. Thank you for so many moments, for so many smiles. We will carry you in our hearts always. May he rest in peace, ”wrote his relatives through the humorist’s social networks. His family indicated that Polo Polo stopped breathing while he was sleeping.

Leopoldo García Peláez Benítez was born in 1944 in León, Guanajuato but from a very young age he moved with his family to Mexico City where he was discovered in a place called Keops Nightclub.

Polo Polo was one of the first comedians to present his shows in renowned centers in Mexico City such as the Teatro Metropólitan, in which he displayed high-sounding language and double meanings that were too unusual for the time, in addition to recording records with their jokes.

On television he participated in programs such as “La escuelita VIP” and in films such as “Private Investigator… very private”, “Only for Adulterers”, “Los relajados”, “Hard and even in the house of sin” and “La lechería de Zacharias”.
