Mevir plans to build 800 housing solutions in 2022

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Mevir stand at Expo Prado 2022, this Monday 12, the head of the organization, Juan Pablo Delgado, reported that 800 homes will be built in 2022. In addition, he valued the budget reinforcement of 210 million pesos foreseen in the Rendering of Accounts. On the occasion, the winning rural schools of the Illustra tu Comunidad contest were also awarded.

The Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Fernando Mattos; the head of Environment, Adrián Peña; the president of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), Robert Silva, and that of Mevir, Juan Pablo Delgado. The event was accompanied by the heads of Antel, Gabriel Gurméndez; from UTE, Silvia Emaldi; from OSE, Raúl Montero, and from Sodre, Adela Dubra.

In his speech, Juan Pablo Delgado stressed that the contest contributes to the objective of “building community” by the institution he presides over. Likewise, he referred to the wooden houses that will be exhibited at the stand and highlighted their construction method, which reduces completion time, emissions and carbon footprint.

The winning drawings will be exhibited at the stand and will be part of the Mevir 2023 calendar design. Cheesemakers Juan Bentancur and Pablo Pérez, participants in the organization’s Small Large Rural Works program, also participated in the space.

Peña highlighted the republican construction fostered by the public school in the country and the boost to the communities that the Mevir has allowed since its foundation. He said that the institutions of the winning students will be painted with ecological material provided by the ministry. In addition, instances of training on care for the environment and sustainability will be promoted.

On the other hand, he announced that Environment recovered in the protected area of ​​Cabo Polonio, in Rocha, a group of houses and constructions. With the collaboration of Mevir, they will be conditioned so that students from rural schools can visit them during their vacations.

In his speech, Mattos pointed out the decentralizing and redistributive policy of the housing agency, and considered that it allows dignifying and settling people in rural areas. “This is dignity, this is work, this is a source of pride for all Uruguayans,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Silva mentioned the history of backing and support for the rural sector implemented by Mevir. Likewise, he said that the contest, in which the winners were 5th and 6th grade students from schools No. 20 in Durazno, 91 in San José, 16 in Canelones and 18 in Tacuarembo, measures the value of rural areas.
