Neighbors and merchants of Communes 7, 9 and 10 Buenos Aires They will return this Friday, at 1:00 p.m., to protest against the work of the Metrobús executed by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires in the avenues Alberdi and Directorywhich they described as “useless and unnecessary”.

In dialogue with Télam, Jorge Pombar, a merchant on Alberdi avenue, maintained that “the reasons why the City Government builds the Metrobuses, according to what they say, are related to faster and safer travel and to improve connectivity for the elderly, but In this case, that’s a lie.”

“It’s a play Useless, unnecessary Y harmful for merchants”, he remarked and asked “if they know that this is the case, common sense says so, then why do they keep insisting, what is behind the construction of the Metrobús”.

The one-way corridor will go in the General Paz direction through Alberdi and toward the center through Directorio and has received criticism from residents and merchants since its announcement months ago, when evaluating that it will have a negative impact on activity in the area, since the road project includes the prohibition of parking on both sides of the two avenues.

Specifically, the first stage of the road project will be on Alberdi, between San Pedrito and Bruix, where there is a pole of sanitary and ceramic sales stores that groups some 400 stores and more than 2,000 employees.

In dialogue with Télam, Sebastián, a merchant for more than 25 years, expressed his concern “because if they do this Metrobús, our activity on Alberdi avenue will be unfeasible, because we work with large-volume merchandise, so, with the restrictions, trucks won’t be able to unload and customers won’t be able to park nearby.”

Fabio Pirone, a member of Comuna 9 for the Frente de Todos, assessed that “there is no need for this work because, in addition to being unnecessary and without consultation, it makes no sense because it does not expedite traffic and puts job sources in the area at risk.” .
