Santo Domingo.- After the tragedy occurred in the Jet Set discothe public health system has activated its care network in mental health, with the aim of offering immediate support to victims, family and any person affected by the event.
This was reported by the psychiatrist Francis Báezin charge of the Mental Health Services of the National Health Service (SNS), who stressed that the enabled centers are offering emergency services with priority for those who were impacted by the collapse of the roof of the establishment.
“Those affected by this tragedy have priority in all mental health services. These patients do not have to pass by procedures, but should be directed directly to the emergency, where the equipment is ready to attend them,” Báez said.

Currently, the Dominican Republic has approximately 240 psychiatrists for a population of more than 11 million inhabitants, which represents a significant limitation. Of these, between 188 and 190 they exercise in the public sector, which makes the available resources concentrate on second and third level hospitals.

In addition, Dr. Báez explained that on the National Health Service platform (SNS), through the “Mental Health Services” portal, the complete network of care can be consulted from the first level.
