MEF ratifies Lorena Masías as executive director of Fonafe

The Ministry of Economy and Finance () ratified Lorena Masías as the executive director of the National Fund for Financing State Business Activity (Fonafe).

Lorena Masías is an economist graduated from the Universidad del Pacífico, with a Master’s and PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh (United States). She has more than 20 years of experience in the management of public entities and projects. She assumed the leadership of Fonafe since February 2020.

A few weeks ago there was talk of a possible departure for the official, however this did not materialize.

According to the MEF, this confirms “the interest of the current management to maintain the mission of Fonafe to exercise the stewardship and management of the State’s business activity in an integral and innovative manner.”

Likewise, he specified that it seeks to strengthen the institutionality of this holding to have efficient state companies “that fulfill their subsidiary role while maintaining a technical profile of their human resources.”

“The National Fund for the Financing of State Business Activity (Fonafe) is a holding that has under its scope 35 State companies, belonging to the areas of: electricity (distribution and generation), finance, sanitation, hydrocarbons and remediation, transport and infrastructure, services and production, health, defense and others”, indicated the MEF.
