After the strong increases in the meat So far this year, the Government included the seven most popular cuts in its Fair Prices program, a measure that will come into effect from Friday.
In this way, the prices per kilo of meat in the most popular portions they will be frozen until March 31. In addition, other benefits will be offered to consumers when they make purchases of this food in the butcher shops adhered to the program.
As explained by the Government, Fair Prices will replace the previous Cortes Cuidados plan and “will have as a base a volume of 15,000 tons of beef per month for sale in supermarket chains with prices 35% lower than those of the market.”
As of this Friday, the kilo of roast, roast cover, empty, matambre, buttock, skirt and shoulder can be obtained at a lower value in the main chains of the country.
The costs per kilo of each cut are as follows: empty $1,351, matambre $1,310, skirt $675, roast cover $1,035, roast $1,035, buttock $1,375 and shoulder $1,113. From April 1, they will have a pattern of increase of 3.2% until June 30.
The cuts they will be available in supermarkets and hypermarkets grouped in ASU (Association of United Supermarkets), CAS (Argentine Chamber of Supermarkets) and FASA (Argentine Federation of Supermarkets and Self-Services), as well as in butcher shops of the ABC Consortium, UNICA (Union of the Argentine Meat Industry ) and FIFRA (Federation of Argentine Regional Refrigeration Industries), but not in the other neighborhood butcher shops.
With this measure, the Government hopes to contain the price of meat which, due to increases in finance, increased 20% in January and 30% so far in February, as explained by analysts.
Consumer Benefits
For buying in businesses registered with the AFIP (Federal Administration of Public Revenues), from the entry into force of the program, consumers will be able to receive a 10% refund for purchases with a debit card. This includes butcher shops, convenience stores and businesses that are registered with VAT as MiPyme.
The maximum refund, which will be credited in 48 hours, will be $2,000 per month. Additionally, On Friday and Saturday, Banco Nación will offer its customers a refund of 35% of purchases with their physical credit and debit cards.as well as for payments through MODO, with a maximum of $3,000 per transaction.
