During the early hours of Monday, it was reported that the mayor of the Pinto commune, Manuel Guzmán, lost his life after suffering two heart attacks.
As a result of the event, the mayor was urgently transferred to the Chillán Hospital, Ñuble region. According to Radio Biobío, at around 11:00 p.m., Guzmán was stable and out of life risk, however, in the early morning he suffered a second and definitive cardiac arrest.
The municipal administrator of Coihueco, Rusel Cabrera, declared that “we are very sad, he was a great public servant and at this moment our prayers are with his family and the entire Pinta community that suffers a new blow. May the Lord welcome you to the place where happiness satisfies without satiation, dear friend”.
It should be remembered that this is not the first time that the commune has suffered the death of a communal chief. In October 2016, the then mayor, Fernando Chávez, died in a traffic accident after driving while intoxicated.
