River Plate players Paulo Díaz and Matías Suárez did not have a break and continued today with differentiated training with the aim of entering the squad for the next match against Sarmiento de Junín, on Sunday at the Monumental stadium.
Díaz, with synovitis in the hip, and Suárez, with a tear in the right hamstring, performed a special routine this morning at the Ezeiza venue while the squad had a day off after yesterday’s victory against Aldosivi (3-0 ) in Mar del Plata.
The Chilean defender accumulates an overload of games at the beginning of the semester due to the tour of his team in Japan and could not even rest in the game against Barracas Central for the Argentine Cup since he had to enter after the expulsion of David Martínez.
After that match, which he played with discomfort, he entered the medical section, was not part of the concentration again and was replaced first by Jonatan Maidana and in the last two games by Emanuel Mammana.
For his part, Cordoba Suárez returned to Vélez in the Copa Libertadores rematch and was injured again in the play of the controversial goal annulled by the VAR, which would have stretched the series to the definition of penalties. Since then, he hasn’t worked with the ball normally for almost three weeks.
River’s squad will return to work this Tuesday morning at the Ezeiza campus with their sights set on Sunday’s match against Sarmiento, in which they will seek to continue adding points that will bring them closer to the top and keep them among those classified at the Libertadores by the annual table.
Looking ahead to said match, Marcelo Gallardo will have Enzo Pérez available to play from the start, who against Aldosivi added minutes in the final part of the match after leaving due to injury in the defeat against Godoy Cruz.
