Masks will no longer be mandatory for students in educational centers

The use of face mask in educational centers It will no longer be mandatory for students and will only be recommended starting next Mondaywith the restart of classes, reported this Thursday the president of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), Robert Silva.

Teachers, officials and other adults who enter educational centers must use the mask on a mandatory basis; meanwhile, students -including those over 11 years old- will only have the recommendation to do so.

The measure, resolved by the education authorities in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Health, aims to make the protocol for the start of courses in the third school year since the appearance of the pandemic more flexible.

“The mask is no longer mandatory for students. Adults who enter the center have to continue wearing the maskSilva remarked, in dialogue with Arriba Gente, from Channel 10.

The chief stressed that from the age of six, the recommendation to use it in institutions will remain in force while recalling other prevention measures: “Ventilation is important (…) quarantines have been reduced. There is no quarantine when there is a case. There can be several cases in an educational center and there is no quarantine either, which is a very good news”.

The isolation, as detailed, will be carried out in the event that two or more covid-19 positives are detected in a classroom, with an epidemiological link between the two, which is defined as an outbreak.
