The Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) submitted a request for an oral report to the rector of the Tomás Frías Autonomous University (UATF), Pedro López, so that explain the circumstances in which the student assembly took place which ended with four young people dead and more than 80 injured.
The request was made by deputy Estefanía Morales and six other pro-government assembly members, includes 11 questions referring to who called and authorized the activity; the legal and administrative actions that he took in the face of the tragic event; the length of stay of the students in that higher house of studies, among other queries.
“We are going to summon the rector of the Tomás Frías University, because we want to clarify these facts (…) Elections are coming at the national level of different internal centers, and what we want is that the autonomous statutes be respectedbut the life of each student is also respected, ”explained the legislator.
Through a letter addressed to the president of the Education and Health Commission, congressman Gustavo Vega, the MAS petitioners Hernán Hinojosa, Gladys Chumacero, Adriana Tarifa, María José Rodríguez, Pedro Coro, Gabriel Antonio Colque and Estefanía Morales, request to summon the rector of the Potosi institution, to give his oral report on Monday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m..
In this sense, a detailed report on said call is requested, who carried it out, for what purpose, who was summoned, if there was attendance control or notand who authorized the use of the coliseum where the attack occurred.
The following query inquires about the legal and administrative actions taken by the university, before the crime allegedly perpetrated by university leaders who would have called the student assembly.
The fifth question points directly to the Local University Federation (FUL), the Optional Student Centers and the Career Student Centers, to clarify if they receive any type of economic remuneration, academic scholarshipwork scholarship or other income.
