Martha Chávez on Fujimori's death: “It is a huge blow for the Fujimorists”

During statements to the press, former congresswoman Martha Chávez highlighted the legacy left by Alberto Fujimori and his role as a politician in reaching out to the most needy sectors, and also revealed his last wish.

Outside the house where the former president died, the lawyer said that Fujimori’s death is a huge blow for Fujimorists and millions of Peruvians. She stressed that as long as Peru is a viable country, the former president will be remembered for its well-being.

Chávez thanked Keiko Fujimori for accepting her father’s last wish, as the president asked to be politically active, his daughter warned him of all the risks that it entailed, but he still wanted to do it. “He leaves in peace, because until the last moment he gave what he could. He wanted to be able to be politically active and continue supporting the project that he embodied and executed,” he said.
