A jury made up of prominent theater representatives and Cuban art critics decided to confer the 2022 National Humor Award to well-known actor Mario Aguirre.
Born in 1948, Mario Rodríguez Aguirre has been on the Cuban scene, venturing into film and radio as well as television and theater. Actor known for his versatility to face both dramatic and humorous roles, critics consider him one of the most recognized representatives of musical theater, a genre that he defended in the years of his greatest crisis.
Several generations of Cubans have laughed with Aguirre, both with his witty monologues and with his charismatic characters, including Atanasio Pindueles, who is widely accepted by the people.
Nominated on more than one occasion for such an important award and winner of the Acting Award for Life’s Work in 2019, the jury did justice by highlighting the work of this artist, devoted to his audience for more than fifty years.
Our congratulations to the actor.
