The president of the Congress, Maria del Carmen Alva (Popular Action), said he hoped that the president peter castle “Keep and honor your word” when he announced that the supreme decree that approved a curfew in Lima and Callao would be repealed this Tuesday, April 5.
Speaking to journalists from outside the Legislative Palace, he stated that the population of Lima and Callao cannot resist “one day locked up” and even described that situation as “unacceptable”.
“I just asked and they told me that it has not been published yet. We hope that she complies and honors her word because she announced it within the meeting and also when she left “he expressed.
“We hope that it will be repealed soon because we had already heard from the Minister of Justice – which worried us – that it could be extended. I believe that the population of Lima and Callao -and Peru in general- cannot resist a day locked up. That is unacceptable”he added.
Regarding the meeting with the president in the Board of Spokespersons, he noted that they have not received proposals in energy and mines, transportation or agriculture and that the ministers have said that they will reach them in due course.
“There have been no specific proposals, which worries us and there has been a general malaise among the spokespersons”indicated when stating that the curfew announced yesterday by Castle Lumps “It was the straw that broke the camel’s back” and generated protests in downtown Lima.
“We are seeing discontent, and the supreme decree was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It is a total discontent. When things are done this way they go wrong. You have to communicate, so that people can organize themselves”he underlined.
