The Grouped Tenants Association mobilized this afternoon in front of the National Congress, in rejection of the project to reform the rent law promoted by the opposition.

According to Muñoz, “Together for Change raises a profoundly regressive opinionwhat includes return to two-year terms, quarterly increaseswithout any type of rates or limits for these increases, that they can ask us for six months in advance”.

For this reason, he considered, “what can happen if the opinion of Together for Change is voted is dramatic.”

In addition, he explained that the protest sought to “make us visible, to say that we are here, we exist, and that there must be public policies for a very hard-hit sector and that for the moment does not have state mediation in a deeply unequal relationship.”

For Muñoz, the ideal is that “is updated once a year and that the law is complied with, a period of three years; If there could be longer contracts, there should be.

After stating that it is about “getting a place to live”, he stated that “if the owners do not want to rent, they must carry out a tax on empty housing so that they have to put them up for rent”.

“I don’t think they don’t want to, but rather they are setting profoundly elitist conditions; here we must stop thinking about renting housing as a market issue; access to housing is a right and there has to be a State there,” he added.

In a statement, Muñoz had stated: “We are not willing to endure more injustice or abuse; for a long time the real estate market forced us to accept any type of condition.”

He indicated that “the rental law is a brake and that is why they try to end it“And he stressed that for this reason the tenants are going to take to the streets; because we are not going to allow them to decide who can live with dignity and who cannot.”

The organization called defend “from the real estate market and the attempt to vote on the opinion of JxC, the Federal Interbloc and the United Provinces”.

From the Chamber of Deputies, the vice president of the bloc of front of all, Cecilia Moreauconsidered that the opinion of Together for Change to reform the Rental Law “is a recoil” given that the quarterly update of the contracts with the agreement of the parties would be “the timba of the rental market”.

“I am worried that this opinion will come out in the chamber; the quarterly updates worry me a lot; the project (of the opposition) seems to me harmful even for the economic and social aspects, from every point of view; it is going to be the timba of the market of rentals,” Moreau told AM 750.

Meanwhile, from Together for Change, the deputy Alexander Cacacefrom the UCR, defended the project considering that “it is not going to be possible to have more rentals by controlling prices“.

In statements made to Radio Provincia, the legislator pointed out that the current norm “generated some undesired consequences” since, “although it sought to protect tenants with the lease term and the update rate, there ended up being very strong increases.”
