Millicom Internacional (Tigo) is a provider of fixed and mobile telecommunications services in Latin America. Through the Tigo and Tigo Business brands, he confirmed that he is discussing a possible acquisition with Apollo Global Management and Claure Group, according to the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo. Tigo has been operating in Bolivia since 1991 and has more than three million users.

According to the mentioned portals, precisely in Claure Group, the Bolivian businessman Marcelo Claure, would be behind the company after having been CEO at the American telephone company Sprint and being involved in the merger of that operator with T-Mobile.

According to publications from the Financial Times and Bloomberg, the potential acquisition agreement would give a valuation to Millicom International of approximately $10 billion, including debt.
In November of last year, it was revealed that French billionaire Xavier Niel’s Atlas Investissementacquired about 7% of the total shares of Millicom.
According to the Financial Timesthe purchase offer for Millicom could be at $10,000 million, including debt, while the announcement had quite an effect on Millicom’s shares in New York, as they rose 16% to $17.21.
