Man who murdered ex-partner sent to jail after breakup

Grandfather who abused his two granddaughters sentenced to 17 years in prison

The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Yhonklin Gerardo Montenegro as allegedly responsible for the crime of attempted femicide, Apparently, for murdering her ex-partner in Mocoa, Putumayo.

The events occurred on November 14, 2020 when the man attacked the woman with a sharp weapon and surprisinglywho was sitting on a platform talking to a friend in the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood.

The wounds that Yhonklin Gerardo Montenegro caused to the woman caused a surgical intervention to be carried out to save the life of the victim, however, the injuries affected her lung and colon.

The couple had been living together for 7 years and 15 days, and then they broke up. The man did not accept charges.

The Prosecutor’s Office requested that Montenegro be covered with a restrictive measure of freedom in prison. In addition, uniformed officers of the National Police captured him on a public road in the Bolívar neighborhood of Mocoa.
