Cuban Regime Inaugurates International Tourism Fair in Varadero

MIAMI, United States. — Cuban ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel inaugurated this Tuesday the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2022), an event that will be in session until May 6 in Varadero.

The opening ceremony of the event, held at the Plaza América Convention Center, was also attended by the Prime Minister of the Cuban regime, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who for many years headed the tourism sector on the island.

During his speech, Marrero celebrated the presence at FITCuba of tourism officials from countries such as Mexico (guest), Argentina and Venezuela, as well as several foreign airlines that operate on the island, tour operators and travel agents.

In statements collected by the state agency Latin Pressthe prime minister of the regime expressed that FITCuba 2022 “is an expression of what the reactivation of tourism can be” in the country.

“It is a process that may not go as quickly as desired, but there is confidence that progress is being made towards the normality that the economy of the Caribbean nation requires.”

According to its organizers, the Fair is attended by more than 5,200 participants from 53 countries, a record number of participants for the event.

A “sustainable and friendly” tourism

The Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, told the guests that there are 106 business opportunities in the sector, linked to management contracts, nature products, parks and leisure options.

The official assured that, in addition to excellent beaches and beautiful cities, the Island exhibits numerous heritage sites, a vast culture, advances in health and biotechnology, as well as an exuberant nature.

Prior to the inauguration of FITCuba 2022, island authorities announced the implementation of measures for the development of “a sustainable and friendly tourism with the environment”.
