6% of the population of Maldonado is cared for in municipal polyclinics when the average in the rest of the country is 0.51%. This follows from the message sent by the mayor, Enrique Antía, to the Departmental Board of Maldonado with the accountability and balance of budget execution for the 2021 financial year.
In this sense, 4.5 million dollars are added corresponding to the Covid Fund that were paid and are part of the investment in social protection made by the IDM in 2021, among other actions.
The budget message indicates that a strong bet was made, through the social area, with baskets, food, scholarships and tax relief. In this sense, the document highlights the exemption measures for the collection of taxes or extensions for the gastronomic, hotel, tourist transport, party halls and travel agency sectors that were implemented in 2021 and, in some cases, continue in 2022.
The report indicates that «2021 was a year of concretions where the Punta Colorada boulevard was inaugurated and the extension and lighting of Camino Lussich, the accesses to the Atchugarry Foundation, and heritage recovery works, such as the transfer and reconstruction of the Battery of the Middle, the Solar de Margarita Muniz, and the Memorial of the Battle of the Río de la Plata. Also the final solution for the relocation of the Kennedy settlement that began, worked and outlined in 2021, finally culminating in 2022. With these actions, more than 500 families will have a better quality of life when they are relocated.”
On the other hand, “the reprofiling of the accumulated deficit that the IDM was dragging through two financial trusts, one of public offer and another of private offer, was fulfilled, achieving a successful placement of the same. This will allow the current and future administrations to plan their efforts and goals in an appropriate manner.
The text also states that “all contracts, public services and payment to suppliers were complied with in a timely manner.”
