MIAMI, United States. – The young Cuban Mailen Díaz Almaguer, the only survivor of the tragic accident of a Cubana de Aviación plane that occurred in May 2018, thanked this saturday to all the people who donated the medical supplies and medicines I needed.
“Thank you very much to each and every one of the people who have taken their effort and their time to donate medical supplies and medicines for me,” the young woman wrote on Facebook, who less than a week ago denounced the lack of medicines and supplies in the Cuban health system.
“May God continue to bless you as before, so that you can help more people in need, as they have done with me,” he also wrote.
“All the health in the world for you, even for those who for one reason or another could not help and prayed to God for my life, this thanks also goes because the prayer of the righteous has power. I am very happy to know that I have more friends inside and outside of Cuba every day”, he concluded.
Last monday, Maylen transmitted his first direct on Facebook to denounce the lack of medicines and ask his followers for help.
“I never go direct on social networks, but I have reached a point where I have felt compelled to do so, to denounce the things that happen through this channel because perhaps I will find help here. Not everything is as it appears to be. I also spend work as everyone spends work. If I am doing this today it is because I have felt very tight, too much, to the extreme, ”she said.
The young woman let the public know that she makes calls every day to the medical personnel who treat her due to the need she has for materials such as gloves, lubricants and 12-gauge catheters that she uses to urinate with an intermittent catheter.
“I have been told that there are no gloves or lubricant in the entire country,” Mailen said.
The lack of these materials can lead to recurrent infections, so Almaguer must take a Nitrofurantoin tablet daily, a drug that is currently in short supply in Cuba.
“It is not possible that so many things have been done to save me at the time as looking for medicines anywhere in the world, as they told me, and today that I am alive and I need gloves and lubricant, there are none,” she added.
“I am denouncing him because I am tired. I have a spinal cord injury and I have to do five hours a day of physiotherapy and also have my head worried that I have to make calls to get a lubricant and gloves, “Almaguer also pointed out.
After her direct, numerous regime spokesmen attacked her. The official presenter Humberto López attacked the young woman and called her “ungrateful”. Meanwhile, other users on social networks criticized her for attacking the Cuban Health System.
