Maduro receives President Petro at the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House

President Nicolás Maduro received the first president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, at the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, where they hold a meeting to strengthen and deepen the cooperative relations that have been consolidated between both nations.

It should be remembered that on November 1, the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and Colombia, Gustavo Petro, signed a joint declaration, after the reestablishment of relations between the two nations in August 2022.

By August 29, Colombia and Venezuela presented credentials to endorse the establishment of ambassadors in both republics after the resumption of diplomatic relations.

Next, the Colombian consulates were opened in Caracas, Maracaibo (Zulia) and San Cristóbal (Táchira), the Venezuelan cities with the largest presence of Colombian citizens.

Economic relations were reestablished on September 26, when the border between the two countries was reopened, after seven years of being closed.

On October 21, the First Binational Parliamentary Meeting between Colombia and Venezuela was held, within the framework of the reestablishment of bilateral relations and the opening of more than 2,000 kilometers shared by both border States.
