The SMN indicated that rainfall from this tropical storm could cause landslides, increased levels of rivers and streams, overflows and floods in low-lying areas of Guerrero and Oaxaca.
“For this reason, the population is urged to attend to the SMN’s notices and follow the indications of the state, municipal and Civil Protection authorities,” he indicated in a meteorological notice.
The body of the National Water Commission (Conagua) explained that “Lester” also has gusts of wind of 85 kilometers per hour and is moving northwest at 19 kilometers per hour.
In addition to the torrential rains of 150 to 250 millimeters in Oaxaca and Guerrero, the SMN predicts that “Lester” will cause intense rains, of 75 to 150 millimeters, in Puebla, and heavy rains, of 25 to 50 millimeters, in Morelos.
The National Meteorological Service stated that, together with Conagua and the National Hurricane Center in Miami, United States, they are updating a new prevention zone from Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, to Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.
