Faced with the accelerated increase in infections by the omicron variant, international health agencies insist on the need to check the mask which is being used.
(See: Spain and Germany donate 8.8 million doses of Pfizer to the country).
Added to this, the Ministry of Health recently made a call to the mayors and governors to reinforce the processes of surveillance and communication on the proper use of the mask in both closed and open spaces.
The Health portfolio indicated that the important thing is used properly and in good condition, but did not specify the characteristics of those that present better protection.

For his part, the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) stated that, compared to the omicron variant, the face masks most effective are surgical N95 (according to the American nomenclature) or the FFP2 (which follow European regulations), since they filter up to 95% of the particles in the air and fit better.
In this sense, international authorities agree that the effectiveness of cloth face masks is not that high when it comes to blocking the smallest particles of the virus, which is why it is recommended to use them together with surgical masks.
Although the discussion about masks is still open, the truth is that those of three hats they remain useful as long as they cover the nose and mouth for as long as required.
