A few days ago, a large group of inhabitants of the Barrio Chino sector had lost their fear and did not hesitate to support the Police in confronting the mob that was promoting the locks and the violence, to which they demanded that the roads be released.
That was the first big step. Harmed themselves by the protests and the interruption of several sections of the Panamericana Sur, this group of citizens from Ica who wants to resume their work activity returned to bet yesterday in the zone of the blockade in front of the protesters, informed of the arrival in this region of a military contingent, belonging to the Operational Command of the Center.
Thus, amid applause, the population greeted the entry into this sector of the forces of order, which 11 days later and after three attempts, was finally able to free this road peacefully. Military, police and citizens removed the stones and sticks from the tracks.
The promoters of the blockade had already been warned about the police-military operation that lasted about 90 minutes and in which there were no clashes. Then, the horns of hundreds of trucks, buses, cars and tankers greeted the resumption of vehicular traffic to the south of the country. The section of the Urban Expansion sector was also unlocked.
THEY WILL UNBLOCK MORE ROUTES
The Minister of the Interior, Vicente Romero, congratulated the forces of order and described the operation in this part of Ica as successful, which, he remarked, was carried out without social cost or confrontations with the protesters.
He promised that the viability of these sections of the Panamericana Sur, unlocked and blocked again in recent days, will be maintained.
Romero announced that these joint actions would be replicated in other regions of the country such as Puerto Maldonado, Puno and Arequipa, where several roads of the national network continue to be taken.
He also announced that in the coming days some people responsible for the vandalism unleashed in the country due to the violent protests against the government of President Dina Boluarte will be presented.
