Archbishop Brenes Solórzano recalled that his mother earned the affection of Pope Francis when he told him “Panchito, I wanted to meet you and hug you,” a conversation that took place when he was created cardinal. “I think that meeting was unique and from that moment, he has always been aware of her,” said the cardinal.
The archbishop said that his mother passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, and that he had asked the Lord, while he was hospitalized for COVID-19, to allow him to be with his mother in the last moments of his life. his life.
