Star Kevin Durant appears willing to remain with the Nets after discussions with team management, the Brooklyn club announced in a statement Tuesday.
Durant, who applied to be traded on June 30, met with Nets managers in Los Angeles on Monday to discuss his future.
Team manager Sean Marks indicated Tuesday that the 33-year-old 12-time All-Star would remain a Nets player.
“(Head coach) Steve Nash and I, along with (owners) Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, met with Kevin Durant and (Durant’s agent) Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles yesterday,” Marks said.
“We agreed to go ahead with our partnership. We are focusing on basketball with one collective goal in mind: to build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn,” he added.
The statement appears to end speculation about Durant’s future, with a host of teams said to be interested in receiving him.
Earlier this month, several US media outlets reported that Durant had given Nets owner Tsai an ultimatum, telling him to fire Marks and Nash or accept his trade request.
Durant’s lawsuit came less than a year after he signed a four-year, $198 million contract extension with the Nets.
