This Saturday, May 28, the government participated, in the port of Juan Lacaze, in the baptism of the ship “Expreso del Plata I”, a vessel that will connect the ports of Uruguay and Argentina and will begin operating on May 30.

With a length of 119 meters, a beam of 21 meters and a height of 4.8 meters on the lower covered deck, the “Expreso del Plata I” can accommodate 52 trucks in 4,500 square meters, always moving forward inside the ferry.

It is estimated that it will be able to move some 20,000 trucks a year with a planned frequency of ten weekly round trips, from Monday to Friday.

The inauguration of the boat was attended by government authorities and also the opposition.

Important work of the governments of the past

In this sense, the senator of the Broad Front Liliam Kechichian who participated in the inauguration of the ship “Expreso Plata I” in Puerto Sauce, said that it is an important work of the Broad Front governments.

“This work represents a new river line for cargo that joins the ports of Juan Lacaze and Buenos Aires. We have undoubtedly changed our country,” he said.

Kechichian added: “We see the president inaugurating works that already existed or cutting the ribbons of what was previously criticized. Sometimes when they talk about waste, I wonder if they are referring to this type of investment that has generated so much work.”
