Juventud de Las Piedras sealed this Thursday its return to the Uruguayan First Division for the 2025 season after eliminating Uruguay Montevideo in the rematch of the duel for third promotion.
At Parque Capurro in the Uruguayan capital, the team led by Argentine Diego Monarriz tied 1-1 and took advantage of the 2-0 they had achieved in the first leg.
After starting losing to a goal from Kevin Alaniz, attacker Anthony Aires achieved equality with a great goal near the end and sealed the return of Juventud de Las Piedras to the First Division after five seasons in the Second.
Likewise, he did it with two Copa Libertadores champions in his squad: full-back Emmanuel Más and midfielder Ivan Rossi. The first won the main continental competition at the club level with San Lorenzo in 2014 and the second with River Plate in the historic 2018 cup.
In this way, the team from the department (province) of Canelones became the third and last promoted after Plaza Colonia and Montevideo City Torque.
For their part, Fénix, Rampla Juniors and Deportivo Maldonado lost the category and in 2025 they will play in the Second Professional Division.
