48 hours have passed since the arrest of the former councilor and opposition activist and there is still no certainty of where he is detained
The whereabouts of the opposition and former Caracas councilor Jesús Armas remains unknown since he was kidnapped by hooded men in the capital on Tuesday night. Although the opposition has accused the national government of being responsible for his arrest, and Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello mentioned him again on television as someone who was preparing actions contrary to order, there is no confirmation of which security body has him in custody. .
His mother Amanda de Armas and her partner Sairam Rivas went with their lawyer to the Palace of Justice to file a habeas corpus request in favor of the social activist, but no official wanted to receive the document. “They were there all afternoon and they did not receive the letter. They told them that they had to wait until there was authorization from a superior,” explained Rivas.
Finally they told them “come tomorrow” because it was 6 pm and it was time to close the office. They warned that in this way the disappearance of Armas, which has already been completed for 48 hours, continues with violations of due process. They denounced the possibility of the former councilor being presented before a court following the pattern of doing so with telematic hearings and violating his right to defense.
They recalled the responsibility of the Venezuelan State and demanded information be provided about the whereabouts of the activist.

A day before, the Ombudsman had also responded with a “come back tomorrow” to Armas’ mother.
