Following the ruling, the High Complexity Occidente prosecutor, Paola Zárate, highlighted that “the sentence handed down in October of last year is confirmed, in which Mr. Patricio Maturana Ojeda was convicted as the perpetrator of the crime of unlawful coercion resulting in serious injuries very serious, in the person of Mrs. Fabiola Campillai Rojas”.

Along the same lines, the persecutor explained that with the resolution of the Court of Appeals of San Miguel “the processing of this case ends and the sentence handed down by the court must be carried out.”

It should be remembered that the investigation and judicial process against Maturana began after the ex-carabinero decided to fire a tear gas canister at the current senator of the Metropolitan region. After the event, recorded in November 2019, Campillai lost his sight and sense of smell, added to multiple other sequelae.
