Judge who released a serial killer is imprisoned for six months in San Pedro accused of malfeasance

The precautionary hearing of the judge, Rafael Alcón lasted more than seven hours; the defense said that his client is not a fortune teller to know that the serial killer was going to commit crimes and that given his health condition and advanced age he should not be imprisoned. The requests were in vain, the First Judge of Anticorruption Instruction of La Paz determined six months in prison for Alcón in the San Pedro prison.

“Determines that for the time being the lord, Rafael Alcón Aliaga must defend himself with the extreme measure of preventive detention for a period of six months. This preventive detention must be fulfilled by the now accused in the San Pedro prison in the city of La Paz”, said the judge after seven hours of precautionary hearing.

Alcón appeared to testify before the Felcc on Friday and the police quickly proceeded to arrest him. Three lawyers came out in defense of this judge who is in charge of the First Sentencing Court and who, thanks to that position, released the convicted person, Richard Choque Flores, who would later commit other murders and was captured last week.
