Journalist Víctor Ticay has been imprisoned for two months on Ortega's orders

A group of Nicaraguan journalists, through a video circulating on social networks, demanded from the Ortega Murillo regime the immediate release of Ticay and respect for his physical and psychological integrity. “He is a journalist, not a criminal”they pointed out.

Journalist Christopher Mendoza denounced that “two months have passed since the illegal detention of Víctor Ticay, a Nicaraguan journalist. The Ortega Murillo regime has been merciless against journalists throughout the Nicaraguan region.

“We demand the release of Ticay, we demand freedom of the Press, we demand that journalists no longer be victims of this dictatorship,” he said.

Jose Cardoza, from the Primer Orden platform, also joined this demand and pointed out that the arrest of Ticay “only shows the control and censorship that the Ortega Murillo regime wants to impose in Nicaragua. It is not possible to continue criminalizing journalistic work and practice within the country.”

The other communicators who joined their voices to demand the freedom of Víctor Ticay are Lucía Pineda Ubau, Martha Irene Sanchez, Gerall Chávez and Ulises Mendieta.

Víctor Ticay, currently imprisoned in the District Three of Managua delegation, is accused by the Daniel Ortega dictatorship for the alleged crime of propagating false news and for conspiring to undermine national integrity. The communicator, who was the correspondent for Channel 10 in the municipality of Nandaime, in the department of Granada, He could face a sentence of 10 years in prison and even lose his nationality.
