The president of the Congress, Joseph Williamspointed out that the possibility of early elections is latent and that it is a path that should be taken “given the circumstances”, while constitutional reforms are implemented.
“I think that we must see how the situation develops, we must listen to the population and I think that (the advancement of elections) is latent, it is a possibility that can occur and should occur given the circumstances, but I consider that they must be resolved first. all these problems with constitutional and electoral reforms”he pointed out to RPP.
José Williams highlighted the importance of Congress carrying out political reforms at the Constitutional level such as bicamerality, renewal by third parties or by means, the elimination of the initial vote of confidence in a Cabinet and the implementation of voluntary voting.
In this sense, he said that it is possible that the periods of the parliamentary periods are worked to implement changes in the Constitution with votes in two legislatures.
“Everything can be discussed, speaking with some benches and we all understand each other. There are consensuses that must be overcome, which is important for the State. The moments of the legislature can be taken in periods of time that do not affect. It is up to Congress to take actions that go beyond what is normal.”indicated.
Williams Zapata also urged the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, to take immediate action to address the protests at the national level.
“The president has to make prompt decisions, such as her Cabinet and immediate decisions to get out of that predicament, such as strikes by carriers, fishermen and other issues. Get out of there and start to build confidence and peace of mind”requested.
