José Offerman, voted Manager of the Year in the 2022-23 LIDOM tournament

José Antonio Offerman Dono, the strategist of the Tigres del Licey, was selected this Tuesday as Manager of the Year corresponding to the 2022-23 championship at the official award ceremony of the Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic (LIDOM), MVP of the Week Santo Domingo Motors.

The jury of sports communicators, made up of 69 members nationwide, favored Offerman with 37 votes, against 32 votes for the pilot José Leger, from the Águilas Cibaeñas, the league announced in a press release.

Offerman led the Tigers to a season in which they matched the win mark for a 50-game campaign with the Eastern Bulls, a squad that posted 34 wins in the 2019-20 season.

Licey won the regular round of the tournament dedicated to the memory of the communicator Don Tomás Troncoso Cuesta by closing with a record of 34-16, two games ahead of the Águilas.

Offerman will receive a cash prize from LIDOM for earning the distinction, one that had eluded him during his previous outings as a strategist. The former baseball player faces his sixth opportunity with Licey, a franchise with which he has been champion twice.

The high school pilot joined the rookie of the Estrellas Orientales, Rainer Núñez, as the members of LIDOM who have been awarded for their outstanding performances in the regular round of the contest that disputes the Banreservas Cup.

This Wednesday at noon the league will announce the recipients of the Manager and Knight of the Year awards. This last statuette will be awarded to the player who best upholds the principles of chivalry, camaraderie, respect for the game and the rival. The players themselves voted for this distinction.
