José Isabel Blandón on revocation of mandate: “This fact alone should call the mayor (Fábrega) to reflect”

According to Blandón, this is not an easy process, but the mere fact that, for the first time in the country’s history, a process to revoke the mandate is beginning, “it already tells you a lot.”

The former mayor and president of the Panameñista party, José Isabel Blandón, referred this Monday to the issue of the recall of Mayor José Luis Fábrega’s mandate.

In Blandón’s opinion, many people want to sign. “We are going to see what happens with this digital mechanism that actually slows things down a bit, it would be easier if the collection were done manually. We live in a country where we are not aware, most places are not covered, they do not have no internet signal or cell phone and that makes it difficult to collect digital signatures,” he added.

He stressed that never before, for a mayor or representative, had such a process been initiated. “This fact alone should call Mayor José Luis Fábrega to reflect. The collection of signatures will start on Wednesday, and we’ll see if the signatures are given or not,” he said.

According to Blandón, this is not an easy process, but the mere fact that, for the first time in the country’s history, a process to revoke the mandate is beginning, “it already tells you a lot.”
