Jorge ‘Yiyo’ Landívar was attacked by three subjects at the door of his house after a hearing at the Municipal Council

It was approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, when the architect Jorge ‘Yiyo’ Landívar arrived at his house, quickly went in to get a sweater and returned to his vehicle to go out again. Suddenly, three individuals approached him and grabbed him with blows and blows, one of them even threatened him, and then the assailants ran away from the place.

“They were waiting for me, it was a quick attack.a. Nothing was taken, even though I had my computer, phone, and wallet.”, said Landívar, who is president of the Association of Property Owners of the Center of Santa Cruz, and lives on Buenos Aires street, between Libertad and 21 de Mayo, two blocks from Plaza 24 de Septiembre.

The attack occurred precisely at the conclusion of a public hearing in the Municipal Council. He and other neighborhood leaders attended the Council to expose the current problems of Casco Viejo, such as insecurity, looking for solutions.

Being an active neighborhood leader for several years, Landívar He assures that it is not the first time he has been intimidated, but this time he decided to make the fact publicfirst in the chat of the residents of Casco Viejo, then in the Special Force to Fight Crime, where he formalized a complaint.

The only witnesses to the attack were neighbors of one of the businesses located in front of his home. Asked if the security cameras of the place recorded the aggression, he said that unfortunately todes are damaged by thugs and that the owners have not replaced them. “We do not have security, we live in the midst of chaos, defenselessness is normal,” Landívar lamented.

He commented that thanks to the efforts of the neighborhood organization, work groups have been organized to analyze the problems that affect the Casco Viejo of Santa Cruz. However, he assures that the process is too slow.

He commented that in recent months they have participated in three public hearings of the Municipal Council and that, beyond the support of some councilors, nothing concrete has been achieved either. The issues have been referred to the different legislative commissions, so we must wait for the reports.
