Jorge Rodríguez: the opposition sought to exterminate the Venezuelan identity

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, referred this Tuesday to the strategy of the Venezuelan opposition to promote migration with the aim of “exterminating the Venezuelan identity.”

He stressed that the opposition applied a “psychological operation to overthrow the constitutional government of Venezuela.

This was stated during the ordinary session on Tuesday when referring to the crimes of which Venezuelans abroad have been victims, making reference on that occasion to the case of an 11-year-old boy who was savagely beaten in Peru by other children in the school.

He pointed out that the previous right-wing governments in Peru criminalized Venezuelan migration: “that hatred that they sought to sow was spread throughout the world,” he denounced.

He directly emphasized Julio Borgues, Juan Guidó, Leopoldo López and Carlos Vecchio as the architects of the violence against Venezuelan migrants.

“Let’s point to those responsible for these excesses against Venezuelans, let’s point to Juan Guaidó, Julio Borges, Mauricio Macri, Iván Duque, they are the real aggressors of Venezuelans abroad,” he said.

Rodríguez recalled that Venezuela has been a receiving country for migrants from various parts of the world, even in the midst of the economic war.

Rodríguez assured that Venezuela is the 4th receiving country for migrants in the region.

“In 2017, in the midst of the economic war and false news, 50,000 Peruvians were settling in Venezuela. According to EFE data in an article published in 2021; 5.5 million Colombians live in Venezuela, and how many Italians, Spaniards, Portuguese came in the 1950s, 1960s, came to Venezuela fleeing the destruction of hunger during World War II”, he highlighted.

He assured that the migration issue was the product of a hate campaign against Venezuelans. “What these NGOs do is swindle Venezuelans, they are white slave organizations that take real money from Venezuelans there in Peru or in any other country, arguing that you cannot live in Venezuela,” Rodríguez said.

Likewise, he referred to Venezuelans who are stalked in countries such as Colombia and Spain. He referred to UNHCR as an instrument to justify the United States attacking countries that do not submit to them.

In this way, the president of the Venezuelan parliament insisted on the need, not only to establish an agreement to repudiate “the inhuman aggression and harassment against a Venezuelan child in a state school located in Peru”, but also proposed to create a commission of the Assembly National to address the Peruvian parliament and demand an investigation of this and other cases of aggression against Venezuelans and reparation for these victims. He also proposed the creation of an office where Venezuelans can report and receive assistance in this type of xenophobic aggression case.
