Joe Biden lands in El Paso and inspects the border with Mexico

Planned schedule:

Sunday January 8

President Joe Biden will arrive in Mexico this Sunday and not on Monday as initially announced. President López Obrador will receive his counterpart at the Felipe Ángeles Airport.

Joe Biden will be transferred to the center of Mexico City by land. According to the president, the 40 minutes that separate AIFA from the National Palace will be occupied for dialogue.

Monday, January 9

At 2:40 p.m., the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, will arrive. He will also arrive at AIFA and will be received by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

President Biden will be received at the National Palace at the edge of 4:15 in the afternoon. The official photograph will be taken between both leaders.

At 2:30 p.m. there will be a meeting in which the wives of both leaders will participate and later a private meeting between President Biden and López Obrador.

Then there will be a bilateral meeting between the delegations of Mexico and the United States, in which Antony Blinken, Alejandro Mayorcas and Ken Salazar will participate on behalf of the United States.

On behalf of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard will participate; the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López; the Secretary of Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez; the Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O; the Environment Secretary, María Luisa Albores, and the Economy Secretary, Raquel Buenrostro.

It is estimated that the meeting concludes after 6:00 in the afternoon; then the arrival of Justin Trudeau and his wife to the National Palace is expected.

Later there will be a dinner between the three leaders and their wives, which is expected to start at 6:45 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday January 10

Prime Minister Trudeau will arrive at the National Palace at 11:30 in the morning and President Joe Biden will arrive minutes later.

The reception ceremony and family photo will be held, which begins the North American trilateral summit.

Later, there will be a working lunch with the delegations of the three countries.

Once the working lunch is over, there will be a trilateral meeting, which will conclude around 3:00 in the afternoon.

Message to media

President Biden and the Prime Minister of Canada will leave the National Palace at around 3:30 p.m. to deliver a message to representatives of the media.

President Biden will leave Mexico after that meeting and return to the United States.

Wednesday January 11

The Prime Minister of Canada will arrive at the National Palace at 10:30 in the morning.

The ceremony and the family photo will be made; then the meeting between AMLO and Trudeau and his wives.

The greeting between Prime Minister Trudeau and López Obrador will take place in private, similar to the one he will have with President Biden on Monday.

After 11:15 in the morning, the Mexico-Canada bilateral meeting begins.

There will be a press conference and at the end Justin Trudeau and his wife will leave the National Palace.
