Agents of the Montevideo Police achieved the seizure of different varieties of drugs and the arrest of four criminals as a result of the “Jimagua” operation, carried out in the neighborhoods of Pocitos and Cordón.
The investigation began in 2021, when the Police received an alert from a person who was selling drugs. Given the facts, the agents launched “Jimagua”, which included intelligence and surveillance work.
With the information collected, the troops agreed to search warrants against two homes in the Pocitos and Cordón neighborhoods. The intervention included the participation of the National Anti-Drug Brigade.
In one of the buildings, located in the vicinity of Franzini and Bulevar España, the agents seized 182 grams of cocaine; 23 base paste and 11 marijuana. In addition, they confiscated traces of a white substance in a spoon, four checkbooks and a telephone.
On the other hand, in the house located in Coronel Brandzen and Pablo de María, the officers seized 231 grams of cocaine and 9,840 pesos. In addition, they confiscated two cell phones and a scale with the rest of the substance.
Two effective prison sentences and two probationary sentences
In total, four people were arrested in the police procedure. All of them were transferred to the Justice, which issued a sentence against them.
In the case of GVSG, 68 years old, and FLBL, 54 years old, they were convicted as criminally responsible perpetrators of a continuing crime of supplying narcotic substances for consideration. The sentence they must serve corresponds, in the case of the first, to two years, and in the case of the second to eight months.
On the other hand, CGC, 34, and RCF, 39, were convicted as criminally responsible perpetrators of a crime of assistance to drug trafficking activities. In the case of the latter, the sentence they must serve corresponds to 12 months in prison, which will be replaced by probation.
