Der Spiegel referred to Hanco Bol of the Dutch Yachting fan club, according to whom the preparations started at 01.00 and the transport of the yacht at 03.00. In just three hours, he said, the yacht, which was not yet finished, was towed to the Greenport shipyard. “It’s extraordinarily fast,” Bol told Der Spiegel. Normally, a transport on the chosen route would take almost twice as long.

The chosen route was also unusual, according to the yacht expert, the report continues. The ship, which is currently still without masts, could have reached its new location much faster via the Koningshaven, says Bol. Rotterdam outrage

Originally, the movable central section of the bridge was to be removed and replaced after passage so that the ship could pass with masts, but this caused outrage from Rotterdammers. The plan was scrapped after protests.

Bol speculated, according to Der Spiegel, that during the current transport they wanted to avoid images of the controversial superyacht under the bridge, so the longest and darkest route in the south-west and the night time slot were chosen. Bol said it was a “spectacular yacht”, that it was “enormous”.
