Santo Domingo – The Fourth Court of Instruction of the National District, postponed on April 22 an appeal for amparo that was submitted this Thursday by the former attorney Jean Alain Rodriguezwhose purpose is to eliminate the term Operation jellyfish of his criminal file.
The amparo, submitted by the defense of the former official, accused along with other defendants of administrative corruption when he was in charge of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republicwas deposited because the defendant understands that this term is pejorative, that it conveys a negative connotation of contempt or little respect and “damages human dignity.”
Franco Soto, a member of Jean Alain’s defense team, said that the Public Ministry distorted the information when his client requested, through a writ of protection, that the expression Medusa not be used to refer to him.
“The former attorney has never addressed the media to remove anything, the Attorney General’s Office and the Specialized Administrative Persecution Attorney’s Office (Pepca) were asked to abandon the use of Medusa to refer to him,” the lawyer clarified. .
According to the file issued by the Public Ministry, those accused of Operation Meduda were part of a criminal network of corruption that operated from the Attorney General’s Office and that, according to preliminary estimates, defrauded the Dominican State with more than 6 billion dollars. pesos.
