It is the seventh that the National Electoral Training School has opened since it began its relaunch last October
The National SchoolElectoral Training and Civil Status (EFEC), academic arm of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) began this Sunday the “Masters in Political Scienceas and Electoral Administration”, which will be taught by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.
This is the seventh master’s degree that EFEC has opened since October of last year, when it began its relaunch process with a view to becoming a higher institute, and it is the first time that the aforementioned topic has been chosen.
Its general objective is to train human resources of high integrity and with competences in political science and electoral administration, capable of contributing to national development from the understanding of “Electoral Law”.
It will be taught in two sections, one aimed at JCE employees and a second group made up of external staff and civil society.
The launch of the master’s degree was held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the UASD, with the presence of the president of the Central Electoral Board, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, and the titular member of the Plenary, Dolores Altagracia Fernandez. It featured a central dissertation by the national director of Elections, Mario Núñez.

Núñez expressed that “the climate of peace that a nation experiences is closely linked to the good organization of its electoral processes and the credibility of its results.”
He explained that precisely on this lies the importance of the content of the academic program that will be exhausted in the development of training.
During the activity, the director of the EFEC, Felipe Carvajal, also spoke, who expressed that the inauguration of the mmastery, projects the mission of the JCE to contribute to the Dominican electoral system a critical mass of professionals committed to raising the quality of Dominican democracy.
He indicated that the training programs at EFEC have taken on the challenge of training institutional servants, civil society actors, political parties in electoral administration and political science, but above all that each member of each of the 158 Electoral Boards of the country and the 21 OCLEE, projecting to impact some 1,733 electoral officials.
The words of welcome on behalfand the rector of the UASD, Editrudis Beltrán, andwere in charge of the director of the ESchool of Political Sciences, José Rafael Almonte, who thanked the Plenary of the JCE for delivering and trusting the university and the facultyad of this school the construction, development and implementation of a broad training program in political science and electoral administration for officials and employees of the institution, as well as for members of Electoral Boards.
The next master’s degree in electoral administration will begin in September at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
