On November 25, Javier Ibarra, former Vice Minister of Internal Security during the Government of Horacio Cartes and former anti-drug and anti-kidnapping prosecutor, was found dead in his apartment located in the city of San Lorenzo. His death occurred under strange circumstances with two shots to the head, without it being possible to define whether it was a homicide or suicide.
As a result of this situation, last Friday, Aida Villalba, a domestic employee of the former prosecutor, was charged. She herself has been in pretrial detention since then due to danger of escape and obstruction of the investigation.
Avelino Britos, Aida Villalba’s lawyer, pointed out that the hypothesis handled by the Prosecutor’s Office is that of suicide, something that did not happen, since if it was so, the weapon should remain with the victim.
“If there is no element other than gunpowder, such as a call, a message, a film, a photograph that unites the hypothesis that she grabbed the weapon, and sold and they did not find the weapon, nor the buyer and the grave. That does not exist. The Prosecutor’s hypothesis is suicide, but that did not happen. My client did not carry the weapon, it was a homicide, the weapon was carried by the murderers, ”she commented.
